The film ‘Mannge Thapnee, A Prayer for the Crocodile’, set in a post-apocalyptic future, is a playful story about the caretaker of an archive and collection of seeds. While anticipating ‘earthly revival’, the caretaker discovers and attempts to recreate the Mannge Thapnee ritual from Goa, resulting in the germination of dormant seeds. The film uses a combination of live-action and stop-motion, giving more agency to the nonhuman and inanimate perspectives in an ecological query.
